John Deere 9430
The John Deere 9430 articulated tractor is built in John Deere’s production facility which is located in Iowa. If you are looking for a larger model than this one, then you may be interested in the John Deere 9530 tractor while if you are actually after a smaller tractor, then the John Deere 9330 will hopefully wet your appetite. The engine powering the JD 9430 is massive. It’s a PowerTech Plus model that has been built in house by the JD team. It produces a whopping 425 hp from a displacement of 13.5 liters. This 6 cylinder engine is liquid cooled and purifies the air intake through a dual paper element air filter. The engine fires at a compression ratio of 16:1.
Power gets to the wheels on the John Deere 9430 thanks to one of 2 gearboxes: The first is a PowerShift transmission which gives the tractor 18 gears going forwards, while in reverse it gives it 6 gears. The second choice is a PowrSync transmission which gives the tractor double the amount of gears to play around with, 24 going forwards and 24 in when reversing. The PTO on the JD 9430 is electrohydraulically actuated.
The John Deere 9430 is only available with an articulated 4WD chassis, there is no MFWD or 2WD versions available. This is fine though as most operators will need the extra traction and control that they get from a 4WD chassis. The total weight of the JD 9430 comes to 17,588 kg (38,755 lbs) when dual wheels are attached and it has a wheelbase of 3.5 m.
