John Deere 8100
The John Deere 8100 tractor is a very large machine. It’s part of the same series as the John Deere 8400 tractor. The JD 8100 was produced during the mid-to-late nineties. The tractor comes in 2 different flavors; with either a 4X4 MFWD 4WD chassis or a 4X2 2WD chassis. There is a choice of engines powering the tractor. Both share many of the same characteristics. They both are turbocharged and are obviously both diesel fueled. Each engine has 6 cylinders and are liquid cooled. The air filtration system on these engines consists of a dual element paper filter combined with an aspirator to make sure that no dust or other particulate matter gets into the engine. The main difference among both engines is that one has a displacement of 8.1 liters while the other has a displacement of 7.6 liters. Both engines are started with dual 12 volt batteries that produce 1850 cold cranking amps. The engine has a 140 amp alternator attached to recharge these batteries when the engine is running. The maximum power output from the engines has been tested at 182 hp.
The transmission on the John Deere 8100 is a Power Shift system. This full power shift gearbox gives the JD 8100 16 speeds going forwards and 4 for reversing. The total weight of the tractor comes to 8579 kg (18,914 lbs).
As the John Deere 8100 is a newer model, it comes with a cab as standard. For slowing down on this model, there is hydraulic wet disc brakes. The engine powers the hydraulics system on this tractor, giving the rear hitch (category 3) a max lifting capacity of 4717 kg (10,400 lbs), although with a lift assist cylinder, this can be increased to 6425 kg (14,165 lbs). Pulling out trees ( Takes a larger dia. cable and a very high quality log chain, or you will have two of them.) Disking, Chiseling, Blading snow, seed bed preparation. etc.
As I said before, These are very good tractors. I believe you will find the PTO output to be in the 180 HP range. And it shows in the field.
A very good tractor anytime, let alone for being a 95 model. Fuel tank holds 135 gallons. All controls are by your right hand.
best tractor I ever used
