John Deere 7930
The John Deere 7930 is a very large and strong tractor that started production in 2007. This model which is part of the 7030 series is built entirely in JD’s assembly facility in Waterloo, Idaho. The tractor gets it 220 hp from a diesel engine that is built by John Deere themselves. This intercooled engine has 6 cylinders, giving it a displacement of 6.8 liters. On top of this, the JD 7930’s engine is also turbo charged for extra power. This engine generates 874.6 Nm (645 lbft) of torque and is started by a 12 volt battery. The battery is charged by a 200 amp alternator. The oil pan used to lubricate the engine and keep it working can hold 16 liters of engine oil.
Many people favor the John Deere 7930 over other similar sized tractors for the simple reason that there is a choice of 3 different transmission systems when buying the tractor new. You can go for the AutoQuad Plus transmission which which gives the tractor 20 gears going forward and 20 gears also in reverse. But if that doesn’t float your boat, you can opt for a PowrQuad Plus transmission instead. This will give you 16 gears going both forwards and in reverse. The other choice, if you don’t like changing gears a lot is an infinitely variable transmission. This gives the JD 7930 infinite speeds in both the forward direction and when reversing.
Obviously the John Deere 7930 tractor needs to have great control if it going to be wrestling with 220 hp, so it’s a good thing that the tractor is built on a 4×4 MFWD 4WD. The JD 7930 uses a closed hydraulic system that has a capacity of 107.9 liters (18.5 US gallons). You’ll also be pleased to know that the tractor has a category 3, 3 point hitch at the back. The lifting capacity of this hitch comes in at an impressive maximum of 6350 kg (14000 lbs).
