Cub Cadet i1050
The Cub Cadet i1050 is a zero turn garden tractor lawn mower. The mower deck on the i 1050 has a cutting width of 50 inches. The mowing deck itself is made from strong 12 gauge steel. The blades on this mower deck are belt driven. The deck is a QuickAttach model which can be attached/detached very rapidly. The standard mode of cutting using this deck is to allow the grass clippings to be thrown out the right side of the deck. While this may leave your lawn looking messy, you’ll be glad to know that you can also optionally mulch the grass clippings.
The mower deck on the Cub Cadet i1050 zero turn tractor mower is powered by a twin cylinder Courage engine that is designed and built by the team at Kohler. This engine uses a fully pressurized lubrication system to keep the engine oiled and it also has a spin on oil filter. The engine is air cooled and uses a standard air filter to clean the air intake before it enters the engine’s combustion chambers. Power from the engine gets to the wheels of the i1050 through a dual hydrostatic transmission from Hydro-Gear. This system allows the operator to control each rear wheel independently which is what allows you to make zero radius turns.
The Cub Cadet i1050 is started using a 12 volt battery in conjunction with a key ignition that provides the engine with 235 cold cranking amps. This 12V battery also powers the headlights that come with the i1050 as standard. The top speed of this zero turn tractor lawnmower is quite high at 10 kph (6.2 mph), while in reverse it can reach 5 kph (3.1 mph). The fuel tank has a capacity to hold up to 10.6 liters (2.8 US gallons) of gasoline. It’s total weight, when the mower deck is attached is 268 kg (590.8 lbs).

The tractor and mowing deck alone are fine except for the deck wearing a hole in the aluminum housing of the hydrostatic transmission which apparently is made of gold and costs $1100 to replace. All the attachments are horribly engineered and very ineffective and difficult to use.

I regret buying this model and would not recommend. I spend an average of $400 a season on repairs and usually in shop for half the summer while I’m sweating behind a push mower.
Purchased this mower from Tractor Supply for right at 3,000 dollars. 3 years later the transmissions are no good. The mower worked really well for about a year but the transmissions began to slip almost right away and by the second year it would no go up a grade or even turn sharply. I took it to tractor supply for repair.
They sent it off and just the parts were going to be 1,900 dollars. Tractor supply spoke to their Cub Cadet rep and they basically said “that’s unfortunate”. I now have a useless lawn tractor taking up space in my garage. Cub Cadet products are garbage and I will never spend another penny on their products and I will highly recommend that no one else does either.
