Husqvarna LTH1438
The Husqvarna LTH1438 garden tractor lawn mower has a 38 inch mowing deck. This mower deck has 6 different operating heights that each vary by roughly 0.5 inches. It can be lowered down to within 0.5 inches above the ground and raised up to 3.5 inches above the ground. There are 2 blades within the deck on the LTH 1438. These blades are engaged manually and are belt driven. The deck has 2 small anti scalping gauge wheels attached to it’s outer extremities to prevent it from catching the lawn as it travels over it.
The engine that powers the Husqvarna LTH1438 is an Intek model from Briggs and Stratton. This engine has a total volume of 0.508 liters. It’s a one cylinder model that uses a standard air filter to stop dust and other small particulate matter from entering into the combustion chamber where it can potentially clog it and lower it’s performance. The engine has a max power output of 14 hp which it transfers to the rear wheels through a hydrostatic transmission that gives it infinite speeds going forwards as well as in reverse. The speed of the LTH 1438 tractor mower is controlled via a lever.
While the Husqvarna LTH1438 is not quite as large as a lot of other Husqvarna tractor lawn mowers, like the Husqvarna LGT24K54 or the Husqvarna YTH26V54 lawnmowers it is still a quality machine if you have a small lawn that is between 0.5 and 3 acres in size. You’ll notice that the wheels on the LTH 1438 are a lot smaller than on most Husqvarna mowers. The rear wheels which power it each measure 18×9.5 (18 inch diameter, 9.5 inch width) while the front wheels each measure 15×6 (15 inch diameter, 6 inch width). Both wheels have a lawn turf thread. have had my Husy 1438 since 2009 and have used it without any problems every 5 days on my half acre lawn.
Only replaced blades annually and only once replaced the battery. Sits in garage over winter and always starts right up first time. Love it…..need hand control for speed rather than foot pedal since I am in my 80’s and have knee problems.
