The Husqvarna GTH2754 garden tractor lawn mower uses a Kohler gasoline powered engine that comes with overhead valves. The engine uses a full pressure lubrication system to keep everything working well and friction free. The engine is started by a 12 volt battery that turns the engine over with 280 cold cranking amps. The battery is recharged with a 13 amp alternator when the engine is turned on. Power from the engine gets to the wheels through a Hydro Gear 331-3000 hydrostatic transmission which gives the GTH 2754 infinite speeds traveling forwards as well as in reverse. The rear wheels which drive the lawn tractor each measure 23×10.5-12 (23 inch diameter, 10.5 inch width, 12 inch rim diameter). The front tires which are responsible for steering the lawn mower each measure 16×6.5-8 (16 inch diameter, 6.5 inch width, 8 inch rim diameter).

The mower deck on the Husqvarna GTH2754 is very large with a cutting width of 54 inches. Inside this deck are 3 mower blades which are all belt driven. The deck is engaged using an electric PTO. The mowing deck can be raised up to a maximum of 3.5 inches above the ground down to a low of 0.5 inches above the ground. Over this range, there are infinite cutting steps. Attached to the deck, there are 4 anti scalping wheels which are also sometimes known as gauge wheels. These act to prevent the deck from catching the ground below it and the blades from cutting into the earth.
