Toro LX425
The Toro LX425 garden tractor lawnmower first entered production in 2006. The engine powering this lawn mower is a Kohler Courage SV600. This 1 cylinder engine is fueled with gasoline and is naturally aspirated. The engine is prevented from seizing up thanks to a fully pressurized lubrication system. The engine draws gas from a fuel tank that can hold a maximum of 11.4 liters (3 US gallons). This is enough fuel to allow the LX 425 to continuously operate for an incredibly long time before it will need to be refueled. The Toro LX425 uses a automatic continuously variable transmission to transfer power from the engine to the wheels. This transmission system also features cruise control which makes cutting large open areas of lawn that much less labor intensive.
The mower deck that comes as standard with the Toro LX425 has a cutting width of 42 inches. This mower deck houses 2 blades. The total width of the mowing deck is actually 54.6 inches with the mower deck attached. This is due to the large plastic protective discharge flap that is attached to the side of the deck. The deck can be raised and lowered through 2.5 inches from a high of 4 inches down to as low as 1.5 inches above the ground. The blades on the LX 425 are belt driven and are engaged using a manual PTO.
The top speed of the Toro LX425 lawnmower comes in at 8.9 kph (5.5 mph) going forwards while in reverse it has a top speed of 3.7 kph (2.3 mph). The front axle on the LX425 is made from cast iron which makes it incredibly durable and almost impossible to break or fracture even under very heavy or rapid loading. Don’t forget that this lawnmower is also capable of accommodating a large range of attachments from 2 stage snow blowers to baggers and front blades.

Over priced, complex drive system, belts fail before 200 hours are reached, and impossible for the average person to fix and maintain. Plus it has all these nice nooks and crannies where grass clippings build up in creating a mess when you try to clean the mower. I bet the engineers at Toro laughed every time an LX425 was sold!
