Poulan Pro 301ZX
The Poulan Pro 301ZX zero turn lawn mower is quite similar to the Poulan Pro 380ZX as they both are powered by the same engine. However the 301ZX has a much smaller cutting width of 30 inches. The mower deck is actually about 10 inches wider than it’s cutting width due to the discharge flap protruding out the side of the lawnmower. The 13 gauge stamped steel deck houses it’s single blade. The mower deck can be raised and lowered from a high of 4 inches to a low of 1.5 inches above the ground in fairly large 0.75 increments, which means that it only has 4 different cutting heights. The raising and lowering is done with a spring assisted hand lever. The blade is engaged manually.
The Poulan Pro 301ZX powers the mower deck with a 16.5 hp Intek engine from Briggs and Stratton. This is a single cylinder engine that is air cooled. The engine uses a standard air filter to prevent dust and other small particles from entering into the combustion chamber and disrupting the firing process. There is a full pressure lubrication system which keeps the engine constantly oiled. Power from the engine is brought to the rear wheels using a dual hydrostatic Hydro-Gear EZT transmission. This transmission gives the Pro 301ZX lawnmower a top speed of 9.7 kph (6 mph) going forwards, while in reverse it has a top speed of 5.6 kph (3.5 mph).
There are a number of different options for dealing with the waste clippings from the Poulan Pro 301ZX. Many people just leave them lying on the lawn. However if there is a lot of clippings, these can rot into your lawn, leaving very unsightly pockets or dead grass. To make the grass clippings rot faster, you can use a mulching system which chops up the clippings more finely that can be used on the Pro 301 ZX. Or if that doesn’t float your boat, you can instead collect them in an optional rear bagger attachment.
