Troy Bilt Pony
The Troy Bilt Pony garden tractor lawn mower is one of the smaller models of lawn tractor from Troy Bilt, similar to the Troy Bilt Bronco mower and the Troy Bilt Tuffy. The engine powering the Pony is designed and built by Briggs and Stratton. This engine produces 17.5 hp and is kept lubricated using a splash lubrication system. The fuel tank supplying the engine can hold up to 5.3 liters (1.4 US gallons) of gasoline. The engine is started by a 12 volt battery that supplies the engine with 190 cold cranking amps. The engine also powers the headlights that come with the Pony as standard, meaning that you can operate it even when it’s dark.
The mower deck on the Troy Bilt Pony has a cutting width of 42 inches. This mower deck houses 2 blades and discharges the grass clippings out the side of the deck. Because of the plastic discharge flap on the side of the mower deck it actually measures about 10 inches wider than it’s cutting width. While most mower decks have a variety of different cutting heights, the Pony has only 5, which may be too few for some people.
The Troy Bilt Pony uses a manual 7 speed transmission, which means that in order to change speed on this mower, you need to change gears. The top speed of the Pony comes to 8.4 kph (5.2 mph). One great thing about the Pony garden tractor lawn mower from Troy Bilt is that it has a low minimum turning radius of just 18 inches which means that is is fairly easy to manoeuvre in small gardens. The rear wheels are the biggest, measuring 20 inches in diameter, while the front wheels are a bit smaller with a diameter of 15 inches. When buying the Pony new, it comes with a 2 year limited warranty to homeowners purchasing it for residential use.

so far a very nice machine. I like the height of the cut. it sure beats pushing the 24″ lawn mower the 42″ make my .5 acre lawn a breeze…
safe
a lot of power
Not good
cutting grass
Worked fine when I used it on 3 occasions .. on the 4th time it backfired and completely shut down. Now won’t start.
worked great when it was working
It has a MAXIMUM CUTTING HEIGHT of 3 1/2 FREAKING INCHES! There are FIVE “cutting heights” ……The HIGHEST setting still practically SCALPS my yard. There is no way to get any additional height, and heaven help you if you ever had to use it on a property with grown weeds and high grass. I suspect it would bog and die constantly. Apparently Troy-BIlt is in the business of making Lawn PLOWS rather than lawn TRACTORS!!!!! Sure wish I had done further research before I spent the money!!!!
