Snapper ZT18533
The Snapper ZT18533 zero turn lawn mower is the smaller of the 2 models in the Snapper 150Z series. The engine powering the ZT 18533 is a Intek OHV model from Briggs and Stratton. This engine has just one cylinder which gives a power output of 18.5 hp. The 12 volt battery that starts the engine is recharged by an alternator once the engine is running. The Hydro-Gear EZT dual hydrostatic transmission allows the operator to use the lap bars to control each rear wheel independently of the other. By controlling each rear wheel independent of the other, you can execute zero radius turns.
The Snapper ZT18533 has a mower deck with a cutting width of 33 inches. This mower deck consists of a single blade which can be raised and lowered from 1.5 inches above the ground to 3.75 inches above the ground. The mower deck is raised and lowered electrically which means that it has an infinite amount of cutting heights. You’ll notice on the cutting deck that there are anti scalping wheels on both the leading and trailing edges. The purpose of these wheels is to keep the deck constantly elevated above the ground even if it’s very uneven and ‘lumpy’ ground.
The Snapper ZT18533 zero turn mower has the option of headlights which will allow you to operate it even when it’s dark. For dealing with grass clippings, the ZT 18533 has 2 different options besides just discharging them on the grass. You can mulch them or instead you can use a twin bag catcher to collect them. The other zero turn lawnmower in the Snapper 150Z series is a little more powerful. It’s the Snapper ZT2142 lawnmower. If you have owned or operated one of these machines, the please leave a review below letting people know what they should expect from it.

I have tight spaces and don’t really need a big powerful mower, but the Zero turn gets me everywhere. Battery quit after 3rd season, not a big issue. Otherwise a great machine and for the initial cost, hope it holds together for the rest of my cutting years…..so far-great machine! These hydro drive units say no maintenance, hope they are right. The units on my machine are the same as the next 2 bigger units, hope that means they are lightly stressed.
Great to maneuver. Smallest of the hydro drive line. Works wonderfully for me. These type of riders are not for hilly lawns, flatter terrain only! The front smooth tires are not terrain holding! Breaking also a concern going downhill….consider using a regular lawn tractor
for this type of mowing. Also if mowing ruff ground, this unit doesn’t have suspension, and your going to get jostled! So otherwise great mower.
