John Deere 8360RT
The John Deere 8360RT tractor is the largest in the 8RT series of track tractors from JD. The other 2 models in the 8RT series are the John Deere 8310RT and the John Deere 8335RT tractors. You will probably notice that the JD 8360RT is very similar to the John Deere 8360R due to them both having the same engine and transmission. The engine that powers the 8360RT is a PowerTech PSX model that produces 360 hp. This dual turbocharged, liquid cooled engine then transfers power from the engine to the wheels by passing it through a John Deere AutoPowr infinitely variable transmission. This transmission makes the tractor an automatic with infinite speeds. It gives the tractor a top speed of 41.8 kph (26 mph).
The John Deere 8360RT comes with 25 inch tracks as standard, but it can optionally use 16 inch, 18 inch, 24 inch and 30 inch tracks too. These tracks have advantages and disadvantages over regular tires. The tracks have better floatation on damp and wet ground which is good. It also allows the tractor to make zero radius turns. However making tight turns can be problematic if you are using the PTO or the 3 point hitch. The tracks also wear faster than tires when driving over hard surfaces.
The total weight of the John Deere 8360RT is very high, weighing in at a very heavy 15,948 kg (35,160 lbs), which makes it one of the heaviest tractors that JD currently produce, although this weight will increase substantially when it’s ballasted. The rear hitch has a maximum safe lifting capacity of 8754 kg (19,300 lbs). The wheelbase of the JD 8360RT measures in at 2.52 m (99 inches). If you own or have operated one of these track tractors in the past, please feel free to leave a review of it below, making sure to mention all the things you liked or disliked about it.
