John Deere 8310RT
The John Deere 8310RT is very similar to the John Deere 8310R in almost every aspect, expect for the obvious fact that the JD 8310RT has tracks instead of tractor wheels. They both use the same engine, a JD built PowerTech PSX that provides the tractor with 310 hp. The engine powers the tracks through a JD automatic PowerShift gearbox that gives the tractor 16 gears going forwards and 4 for reversing. The other transmission choice is an infinitely variable transmission that provides the tractor with infinite speeds in both forwards and reverse.
The top speed of the John Deere 8310RT comes in at 41.8 kph (26 mph). It is however very heavy, tipping the scales at 10,750 kg (23,650 lbs). This weight will obviously increase greatly depending on how much ballast is added to the tractor. Probably the best thing about this tractor is that it has a zero turning radius. The wheelbase comes in at 2.26 m (89 inches). There are a range of different sized tracks for this tractor, ranging from 16 inches wide to 30 inches.
The rear hitch on the John Deere 8310RT is a 4N/3 hitch. It has a maximum safe lifting capacity of 8754 kg (19,300 lbs). If you are looking for a large track tractor in the JD 8RT series that’s bigger than the JD 8310RT, you may be interested in either the John Deere 8335RT or the John Deere 8360RT tractors. There are both benefits and drawbacks to tracks instead of tires. One of the best advantages of tracks is that they offer greater floatation on the soil they are operating on, whereas tractor tires tend to dig into the ground that they are traveling on.
