John Deere 7H17
The John Deere 7H17 walk behind lawnmower is most often used by commercial outfits and not so often used by individuals for residential jobs. This is mainly due to it’s large size and power. The JD 7H17 is powered by a 17 hp Kawasaki engine that has a displacement of 0.585 liters. The 2 cylinder engine is recoil started via a pull cord mechanism. The engine operates at 3600 rpm. One of the great things about this lawnmower is that it has a Tuff Torq hydrostatic transmission which gives it infinite gears going forward as well as in reverse. To speed up or slow down, you just need to press the accelerator handle harder or release it.
The controls on the John Deere 7H17 can be adjusted to accommodate the height of the operator, whether he/she is big or small. Rather than a long continuous bar in front of the operator, there are 2 pistol grips that you use to control the JD 5H17. The fuel tank on this model is capable of holding up to 22.7 liters (6 US gallons) of gasoline, which allows for an incredibly long operating time before it needs to be topped up. The rear wheels on this machine each measure 18×8.5-8 (18 inch diameter, 8.5 inch width, 8 inch rim diameter) while the front castor tires are much smaller, measuring 9×3.5 (9 inch diameter, 3.5 inch width).
The mower deck on the John Deere 7H17 has a cutting width of 48 inches and is a 7 Iron II deck which has a very long lifespan and is highly durable. At the front of the mowing deck, you will find a number of anti-scalp wheels that prevent the edges of the deck from catching and scraping the ground it’s traveling over. Similar machines to this one include both the John Deere WG36A and the John Deere WG48A walk behind, self propelled lawn mowers.
