John Deere 6430
The John Deere 6430 is the biggest machine in the 6000 series of utility tractors. It’s powered by a JD made PowerTech 4045Hl281 diesel engine. This is a 4 cylinder, turbocharged engine that has an engine size of 4.5 liters. The engine fires at a compression ratio of 19:1. This PowerTech engine in the JD 6430 is lubricated using a full pressure lubrication system that holds up to 15.9 liters of oil. The liquid cooling system that it uses holds 29.1 liters of water if it’s the model with a cab, while the open operator station has an engine cooling system that holds slightly less at 26.5 liters of water.
Power from the John Deere 6430 is transferred to the wheels after first passing through one of 4 gearboxes: 1) PowrQuad transmission that gives the JD 6430 24 forward and reverse speeds, 2) A different PowrQuad transmission that gives it 16 speeds in forwards and reverse, 3) a SynchroPlus that gives it 12 forwards and 4 reversing gears and 4) a PowrReverser transmission that gives it 16 gears going forwards and 16 for reversing too. The hydraulic system on this tractor holds up to 51.9 liters of hydraulic fluid which is used to power a wide range of attachments, from backhoes to front end loaders.
As the John Deere 6430 is the biggest utility tractor in the 6000 series, you may be looking for a smaller model in the series. If so, then the John Deere 6230 and the John Deere 6330 utility tractors may take your fancy. The rear hitch on the JD 6430 has a maximum safe lifting capacity of 2313 kg (5100 lbs). One of the really nifty things that this tractor has is FieldCruise technology which allows the operator to set a specific engine rpm, which in turn controls the PTO rpm. The technology even compensates for when are driving uphill and the tractor is under a heavy load.
