John Deere Z245
The John Deere Z245 zero turn lawnmower is very similar to the John Deere Z225 in a lot of ways. However it’s mowing deck is a lot bigger, measuring in at 48 inches. It uses the very well known and respected ‘Edge Cutting System’ which gives your lawn a more accurate and clean cut. Even though the mower deck has a cutting width of 48 inches, the overall width of the mower is actually a good bit larger due to the fact that there is a discharge flap located on the side of the deck. This increases the overall width of the mower to 60.5 inches.
The John Deere Z245 is powered by a 23 hp engine that is air cooled. The V twin engine has a total displacement of 0.724 liters and is equipped with a full pressure lubrication system that has a capacity to hold up to 1.7 liters of oil. The engine is key started with a 12 volt, 235 cold crank amps battery. Controlling the JD Z245 takes a little getting used to if you have never used a zero turn lawn mower before. Rather than using a steering wheel, you must instead control the lawn mower using only the lap bars in front of you. However once you get used to using the lap bars, you will probably never long to go back to a steering wheel driven lawnmower again.
The John Deere Z245 uses a Hydro-Gear, dual hydrostatic EZT transmission to allow the driver to control the amount of power each rear wheel receives, independent of the other. Controlling the speed of each rear wheel independent of the other is what allows it to execute zero radius turns with ease. The mower deck on the JD Z 245 is adjustable from 1 inch to 4 inches above the ground in 0.25 inch steps, which means that you will always be able able to find a suitable cutting height.
