The Ariens Zoom XL 48 inch, zero turn lawnmower is the mid sized machine in the Ariens Zoom XL series of mowers. The smaller model is the Ariens Zoom XL 42 while the Ariens Zoom XL 54 is the larger and more powerful model. The Zoom XL48 lawn mower is also known as the Ariens 915165 lawnmower. The engine used to power both the wheels and the blades is a Kawasaki FR series twin cylinder engine that produces 24 hp. It is 0.726 liters in size and is a 4 stroke model. It use a key start ignition.

Using Hydro-Gear ZT2800 transaxles, the operator can control the speed of the Ariens Zoom XL 48″ zero turn lawn mower as well as it’s direction. These transaxles allows power to be varied between each rear wheel. This allows the operator to easily execute zero radius turns. The rear wheels themselves each measure 20×10 (20 inch diameter, 10 inch width). However as the front wheels do little else besides keeping the mower deck from scraping the ground, they are much more smaller. They each measure 11×4 (11 inch diameter, 4 inch width). You may also notice the small plastic wheels on the front of the mower deck. The purpose of these is to simply prevent the mower deck from scalping the ground it’s traveling over.

The Ariens Zoom XL 48 inch zero turn lawn mower has a top speed of 10.5 kph (6.5 mph) which makes it quite good for larger jobs. To raise and lower the cutting deck on the Zoom XL48 mower, you need to use a foot pedal. The mower deck can be raised from 1.5 inches to 4.5 inches above the ground over 7 different positions. One of the nice extras that comes with this lawnmower is an hourmeter. This allows the operator to accurately gauge when to next service it.
