The Ariens Zoom XL 42 inch zero turn lawn mower is the smallest in the Zoom XL series from Ariens. It is also known as the Ariens 915163. Bigger models in the lineup include the Ariens Zoom XL 48 and the Ariens Zoom XL 54 zero turn lawnmowers. As you should have already guessed the mower deck on the Zoom XL42 lawnmower has a cutting width of 42 inches. The mower deck is constructed from strong 10 gauge steel. It also has a number of small plastic wheels on the front of the deck. The purpose of these is to prevent the mower deck from potentially scalping any uneven ground it travels over by keep the deck constantly floating above the ground. The deck can be adjusted from a high of 4.5 inches to a low of 1.5 inches above the ground through 7 different cutting heights.

The Ariens Zoom XL 42 gets it’s power from a  Kawasaki, 2 cylinder engine. This 4 stroke engine has a displacement of 0.726 liters and a power output of 22 hp. The engine is started by a 12 volt battery using an electric Warner system. Fuel is fed to this Kawasaki engine from a gas tank that has a capacity to hold up to 14.4 liters (3.8 US gallons) of gasoline. The engine comes with a 3 year warranty when buying the Zoom XL42 new.

The Ariens Zoom XL 42″ zero turn lawnmower comes with a comfortable high back seat that will enable to the operator to use the machine for very long periods of time without getting overly uncomfortable. To deal with the grass clippings, the operator has 3 different options. The first and simplest methods is to simply just discharge them out the side of the mower deck. If you don’t want to do that you can instead purchase an optional mulcher to cut up the clippings into a fine mulch. Or if you prefer you can buy a rear bagger to collect all the clippings.
