The Ariens Lawn Tractor 42 lawn mower is the smallest of the yard tractors currently on offer from Ariens. Bigger models include the Ariens Lawn Tractor 46 lawnmower and the Ariens Lawn Tractor 54 lawn mower. The Ariens 42 ride on lawn mower is powered by a 0.597 liter Courage, 1 cylinder engine that has been designed and built by Kohler. This engine has a power output of 19 hp. It transfers power to the wheels through a hydrostatic transmission. This transmission give the lawn mower a top speed of 8.8 kph (5.5 mph) going forwards and a top speed of 4 kph (2.5 mph) when it’s reversing.

The Ariens lawn tractor 42 has a mower deck with a cutting width of 42 inches (you might have been able to guess from the name!). This mower deck is constructed from standard 12 gauge steel to help prevent deflections in the off-chance that you do hit a large object during operation. The mower deck can be raised up to 4 inches above the ground and lowered to as low as 1.5 inches above the ground. This can be done in 0.5 inch increments. The Ariens 42″ lawn mower is designed for gardens that are between 0.5 acres to up to 4 acres in size. The fuel tank on the machine is capable of holding up to 9.5 liters (2.5 US gallons) of gasoline.

The Ariens Lawn Tractor 42 is very maneuverable in tight spots thanks to it’s low minimum turning radius of just 16 inches. Even while working on the most soggy lawns, the Ariens 42 inch tractor lawn mower is very unlikely to leave any thread marks thanks to the fact that wheels are quite big and wide. Each front wheel measures 15×6-6 (15 inch diameter, 6 inch width, 6 inch rim diameter) while each rear wheel is a lot bigger, measuring in at 20×8-8 (20 in ch diameter, 8 inch width, 8 inch rim diameter).
