John Deere X475

The John Deere X475 lawnmower is the second smallest machine in the X series of John Deere mowers. The smallest is the John Deere X465 lawn mower while if you are looking for something a little bigger then you may be interested in the John Deere X485. The JD X475 is powered by a 23 hp Kawasaki FD671D engine. This V twin, 2 cylinder gasoline engine has natural aspiration and has a displacement of 0.7 liters. This engine is quite big so it uses a liquid cooling system to help prevent it from over heating. The capacity of the cooling system is 4 liters and it’s important to check it regularly to make sure that it has been topped up with coolant. The air intake is purified using a dual paper element filter. The total power output from the engine is 23 hp.

As the John Deere X475 is such a large lawnmower, it is rarely used by individuals. Instead it’s mostly seen being used by garden contractors and professional landscapers that need to cut acres and acres of lawn. There are a number of very large mower decks that are compatible with the JD X475. These include a 48 inch mower deck, 54 inch mower deck and 62 inch mower deck. These large mower decks are not particularly suited to working in small, confined gardens. However they work well on open areas of grass. So if you need to cut the grass on a playing field on park, this is a fantastic machine.

But cutting grass is not all the John Deere X475 can do. You can also use it with many implements around the garden. You can attach snowblowers and snow blades as well as rotary brooms, mid mounted blades, box scrapers, rotary tillers, sprayers and even a front loader. One Review of the “John Deere X475”

  1. C Fischer says:

I bought this tractor and was impressed by how well built the frame and hydraulics were. I decided to modify it extensively as I enjoy tinkering. I sold the gas engine and installed a Kubota D722 diesel engine, switched it to 4×4 with parts from a x585, turbocharged it with a Garrett GT0632SZ, put a more aggressive fan on and custom built an aluminum fan shroud for cooling capacity. I have about 35pto horsepower on the dyno. I’ve run it like this now for 2 years mowing, tilling with a 4′ tiller, and snowblowing. I love the power and the tractor is very well designed to handle it. The water and exhaust temps stay cool and I set the wastegate on the turbo to 15psi. This tractor can do a lot of work for its size!
