John Deere GT245
The John Deere GT245 lawnmower is much more powerful than a lot of the other models in the ‘GT’ series such as the John Deere GT 225 or the John Deere GT235 lawn mowers. Most notably is it’s engine. It produces a whopping 20 hp which handily powers a mower deck up to 54 inches in width to cut up even very long grass without much chance of it cutting out. The Kawasaki FH601V, 2 cylinder engine with cast iron liners, is air cooled. It uses a combined foam and paper air filter that makes sure no impurities make their way into the combustion chamber. The engine requires 1.8 liters of oil to keep it fully and properly lubricated.
As with a whole host of other modern JD lawnmowers, the John Deere GT245 uses Twin Touch pedal technology to take a lot of the stress of operating it out of the equation. There is no gear stick, just 2 pedals: one for moving forwards and one for reversing. There is also cruise control which further adds to the ease of use of the JD GT245 lawnmower. The weight of this mower comes to 265 kg (585 lbs) when it’s rolling off the production line. However this weight is without the deck attached. Once the deck is attached, the weight will obviously increase somewhat.
Before attaching a rear bagger or any other attachments such as snowblowers or front blades, the length of the John Deere GT245 comes to 1.82 m (72 inches). The total width of the machine is variable, depending on what sized mower deck is attached. The turning radius of the JD GT245 is fairly reasonable at 0.5 m (19.7 inches). Once the mower deck is attached to this garden tractor, you can adjust it through 13 positions from 1 inch above the ground to 4 inches above the ground in 0.25 inch increments.
