John Deere D150

The John Deere D150 is the upgraded version of the John Deere D140, while at the same time, it’s not quite as big as the John Deere D160. It gets it’s power from an Extended Life Series (ELS) Briggs and Stratton engine that has a displacement of 0.656 liters. The 12 volt battery used to start the engine is charged by a 16 amp alternator. This air cooled, natural aspiration, 2 cylinder engine produces 22 hp which is then transferred to the wheels via a hydrostatic transmission that gives the JD D150 infinite gears both traveling forwards and in reverse. This gives the lawn mower a top speed of 8.8 kph (5.5 mph) when traveling forwards.

The total weight of the John Deere D150 comes in at 236 kg (520 lbs). It has a length of 1.88 m (74 inches). The cutting width of the mower deck is 48 inches. When attached to the JD D150 it gives it a total width of 1.53 m (60.3 inches). There is an optional bagger attachment that you can purchase for this garden tractor that has a 6.5 bushel capacity and is attached to the back of it using John Deere’s CargO Mount system, which allows for very quick attachment and release of various pieces of equipment. You can also purchase a mulching cover for the mower deck so the the grass clippings gets thoroughly chopped up and returned to the grass where they will rot and provide nutrients to the soil.

The are other attachments that work seamlessly with the John Deere D150. It can happily accommodate a 46 inch John Deere snow blade and the John Deere 44 inch, dual stage snowblower, specially designed for the 100 series of John Deere lawnmowers. If you do decide to purchase the snow blower, then it’s highly advisable that you also purchase a snow cab, otherwise you risk getting very cold…and potentially covered in snow.

    Drives nice.

    Year of Manufacture: 2011
    Pros: Starts every time.
Cons: Have had to have it in the shop 4 times over the past year. Spent nearly enough to buy another tractor. Next one won’t be a Deere.

I really wish I would have gone with litterally ANY other brand.

    Year of Manufacture: 2011
Pros: Engine runs well, easy start up, looks and sounds great.
Cons: Looks arent everything. I purchased the $200.00 bagging system that hooks on the back…The grass just gets stuck in the chute and clogs up. I bought the mulching kit ($35.00), and the “gator blades” ($65.00), and all I get is clumps all over my yard and the grass clippings are just as long as they always have been. Absolutely no mulching is being done. This is a great tractor to ride aroung on and pull my kids in the cart I also purchased for it but as for mowing my lawn…looks like the John Deere D150 is about one of the last peices of garbage I would recommend.
Attachments: Muching kit, Gator Blades, 6.5 Bushel Bagging System.

Only used it recently but compared to my older mower, I can see the difference.

    Year of Manufacture: 2011
Pros: Very powerful, relatively quiet, electric mower PTO, adjustable high back seat, easy gas fill, large amp alternator (16 amp vs 8), visible from seat fuel level, even 48″ cut with many height settings, blade and deck wash system), easy removal of mower deck.
Cons: A little difficult to get on/off. If you get off on the left side, you get tangled in the mower height adjustment lever and you have to avoid hitting the deck hose cleaner attachment, getting off the right side means you have to avoid stepping on the chute….but I imagine all of the large 48′ mowers regardless of brand may have the same issues. The seat engine disconnect is very sensitive.
    Attachments: Mulch cover.
    Modifications: None
