The Snow Joe SJ906 snow blower is powered by a Snow Joe Power, 4 stroke, OHV engine. This engine is 0.21 liters in size and is air cooled. The engine provides this dual stage snowblower with 11 ft-lbs of torque. The fuel tank on the snow thrower can hold up to 1.9 liters (0.5 US gallons) of gasoline. The SJ906 is a 26 inch snowblower and so is bigger than both the Snow Joe SJ905 Snow Blower and the Snow Joe SJ622 Snow Blower. To start the SJ906 you have 2 choices: the first is by plugging it in to the mains electricity and pressing the 120 volt electric starter button. The other option requires a bit of muscle. It’s a pull cord, recoil starting system. The engine uses automatic decompression to make starting it that much easier.

As mentioned before, the clearing width of the Snow Joe SJ906 dual stage snowblower is 0.66 m (26 inches), while the intake height is 0.53 m (21 inches). This allows the machine to clear up to 907.2 kg (2000lbs) of snow every minute when operating at full capacity. Snow first enters the SJ906 and is broken up by the auger which is made from serrated steel. As well as initially breaking up the snow, the auger channels the snow towards the center of the machine where the impeller is. The impeller then further breaks up the snow while at the same time shooting it up to 9.1 m(30 feet) away from the clearing area.

The Snow Joe SJ906 2 stage snow thrower weighs in at 86.2 kg (190 lbs) which is reasonably light for a snowblower with a clearing width of 0.66 m (26 inches). The gear box through which power is transferred gives the SJ906 6 speeds when traveling forwards and 2 gears when it’s reversing.
