The Ariens Compact 22 Snow Blower is the smallest gasoline powered snow blower on offer from Ariens. The Compact 22 snow thrower is powered by a 4 stroke OHV LCT motor. This engine has a displacement of 0.21 liters and produces 9.5 ft-lbs of torque or 6.5 hp. As you can probably guess from the name, this snow blower has a clearing width of 22 inches, while the clearing height of the machine comes in at 0.51 m (20 inches). The engine is usually started by simply plugging it in and pressing a button. But if you are not near a plug socket, you can also use the recoil, pull cord to start it.

The Ariens Compact 22 snowblower is a dual stage snowblower (sometimes referred to as a 2 stage snow thrower). This means that unlike a lot of other snow blowers, it is very unlikely to get choked with snow and stall. The first stage is the auger which is constructed from steel and has a diameter of 0.28 m (11 inches). It’s also serrated to handily break up any snow and ice into smaller chunks. Once the snow and ice has been broken up, it’s then fed towards the impeller, which consists of 3 blades and has a diameter of 0.3 m (12 inches). This forces it out of the main ‘bucket’ area of the Ariens Compact 22 snow thrower and through the chute.

The chute on the Ariens Compact 22 snow blower is also made from steel and uses Ariens’ Quick-Turn technology to rotate a maximum of 205 degrees. The impeller provides the snow with enough force to shoot it up to 12.2 m (40 feet) from the machine. There is also a deflector at the top of the snow blower to accurately control how far you want to send the expelled snow. The tires used on this snow blower have a diameter of 0.33 m (13 inches) and are 0.1 m (4 inches) wide, which offer the Ariens Compact22 adequate grip even in very slipping conditions.
